ch’kw’elhp/Gibsons – Bob joined the Sunshine Coast Foundation Board in 2025, bringing with him a deep commitment to community connection and service. He and his wife have lived in Gibsons since 2001 and have proudly called the Sunshine Coast home for over two decades.
With a successful career in the grocery industry, Bob owned and operated four IGA stores across British Columbia, including the Gibsons location. He took great pride in creating a welcoming space where fresh food and community could come together.
Giving back has always been central to Bob’s life. He has coached youth soccer, basketball, and baseball, and served in leadership roles—including Director, Vice-Chair, and Chair—on the Gibsons and Area Community Economic Development Board. Today, he continues to support local well-being by helping the Sunshine Coast Division of Family Practice explore new models of healthcare delivery, and by consulting with the Georgia Main Food Group.
When he’s not working or volunteering, Bob enjoys travelling, salmon fishing, hiking, gardening, and playing golf. He especially treasures time with his two children and three grandchildren.
For Bob, community means belonging, caring, and showing up for one another. Through his role with the Foundation, he hopes to inspire greater awareness of its impact and connect more residents to its mission across the Coast.
