Calling all Volunteers!

launch of volunteer sunshine coast The Sunshine Coast Volunteer and Information Centre was a hub of connection between organizations, volunteers, and resources. When it closed in 2017, it left a huge gap. Filling it was identified as a priority at the Sunshine Coast Foundation’s Vital Conversation on Belonging that fall. The Community Resource Centre, supported by the District of Sechelt, stepped up to the challenge and, with funding in part from the Foundation, established Volunteer Sunshine Coast.

Not only will this new service connect local organizations with skilled volunteers, it also aims to be financially sustainable through membership fees and earned income. “We are so excited by the support we are receiving from funders, volunteers, local government, and other organizations,” says Pat Hunt, Resource Centre Board Co-Chair. “With hard work and a strong business plan, Volunteer Sunshine Coast will be supporting local organizations for many years to come.”
