Making a Difference: The Impact of 16 years of Granting

Habit for Humanity HomesThe Sunshine Coast Foundation began making grants in 2005 and, since then, has provided $1.5M in support to local community projects. Many of these grants have resulted in lasting community benefits. For example, in 2004, we provided seed funding that helped to launch Habitat for Humanity on the Coast, which has constructed 15 homes that now provide affordable and safe housing for 24 children and their parents.

In 2010, the Foundation facilitated a workshop to address issues facing young adults that resulted in the creation of VOICE on the Coast, which was recently reconstituted as the Voice Lab, a program by and for young entrepreneurs under the aegis of SCREDO. In 2014, a grant from the Foundation helped to launch the Seniors Planning Table, which continues to help all older adults living on the Sunshine Coast to be healthy, valued, and involved members of the community. The Foundation is proud to have played a role in establishing these and other great, ongoing services that are meeting important community needs.
