$220,000 granted to the community through the Sunshine Coast Prosperity Fund

We’re thrilled to announce that $220,000 in funding has been distributed to six Sunshine Coast charities in support of their operations and program delivery over the next two years.

Funded by the Government of BC, the Sunshine Coast Prosperity Fund was designed to support the critical work and long-term sustainability of our local community service organizations by providing them with the financial stability to focus on impactful outcomes.

Please join us in congratulating all six recipients!

Gibsons & District Public Library $28,300
Accessible Library Services Project
Funding will enable the Gibsons & District Public Library to expand its mobile door-to-door and accessible library service, bringing resources and tech support to an increasing number of homebound and/or print-disabled people in their service area who are currently unable to access the library on their own.

One Straw Society $40,000
Capacity Building for Food Security & Community Resiliency
Funding will enable One Straw Society to advance its operational capacity by creating the systems, roles, descriptions, guides, and resources the organization requires to embark on the next stage of their growth and to also better meet the swiftly increasing needs of our community.

Pender Harbour & District Health Centre Society $31,700
Pender Connection: Bringing Resource to Pender Harbour
Funding will enable the Pender Harbour & District Health Centre, in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre, to significantly expand the existing and highly successful Information Hub –  a comprehensive range of in-person and virtual services – delivering them more consistently, reliably, and strategically to the residents of Pender Harbour.

Restorative Justice Program of the Sunshine Coast $40,000
Long Term Community Building Through Restorative Justice
Funding will support the essential operational expenses needed for long-term sustainability and growth, enabling the Restorative Justice Program of the Sunshine Coast to expand its reach, enhance program delivery, and continue providing critical services – such as community justice forums, peacemaking dialogue circles, training sessions, and public education initiatives – that contribute to the social well-being of our community.

Sunshine Coast Charitable Housing Society $40,000
Stronger Foundations: Building Housing Solutions on the Coast
Funding will be used to retain an Operations Manager dedicated to strengthening the organization’s capacity and impact. Supporting the society’s transition from a volunteer-driven working board to a governance board with professional staff, the grant will allow for more effective leadership, long-term sustainability, and the expansion of housing solutions, ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to stable, affordable homes on the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast Hospice Society $40,000
Increased Capacity for Community Programs & Services
Funding will secure the critical operational capacity needed to help address the significant increase in the number of Sunshine Coast residents seeking Hospice’s free grief support programs and services. The grant will also help the society develop and implement new volunteer training modules to prepare a new cohort of volunteers who will be supporting families and residents of the new dedicated residential hospice opening in late 2026.

“We’re deeply grateful to be a part of this funding opportunity through the Government of BC. It’s an honour to support such a diverse group of local organizations that work so hard to strengthen our Sunshine Coast community and create lasting prosperity.” – Erin Storey, Executive Director, Sunshine Coast Foundation

We acknowledge with great appreciation the financial support of the Government of British Columbia.
