Connie brings more than 30 years’ experience in non-profit and municipal government leadership to the role. She is passionate about working collaboratively with donors, local charities, and community leaders to help achieve the Foundation’s vision.

“The Board of the Sunshine Coast Foundation looks forward to the ideas and energy that Connie will bring to our efforts,” says Foundation Board Chair, Manjit Kang.

Most recently, Connie was the Director of Operations for the Fraser River Discovery Centre, where she conducted a complete organizational review and upgrade. Prior to that, Connie served for 15 years as city liaison to the Richmond Museum Society, a board of volunteers who advise and assist the City of Richmond with the operation of the community museum. Connie also served as the first Executive Director for the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, a non-profit organization that established the National Historic Site in Steveston. Many of Connie’s professional activities involved collaborating with First Nations communities, including Musqueam, Tsawwassen, Katzie and Sto:lo.

“While having recently moved to Gibsons, I have been visiting family on the Coast for more than 25 years,” said Connie. “I’m excited to build on the fantastic work that the Sunshine Coast Foundation has accomplished here,” she added.

Connie will assume her position as Executive Director on January 10, 2022.

At that time, the Foundation will say farewell to Wendy Francis, who has served as Executive Director since January 2017.

“The Foundation Board extends its warmest appreciation to Wendy for her commitment and steady leadership over the past five years,” said Kang.

Wendy will consult to the Foundation in early 2022 as needed to ensure a smooth transition to Connie’s leadership. Thereafter, she will enjoy retirement from her home in Gibsons.
